On Saturday, we packed up our van to head up to Tahoe.

But before we left town, we were thrilled to be able to have breakfast with our good friends Brad and Tina Lewis and their family. They are being transfered to Alaska and were passing through Sacramento.

When we arrived in Tahoe, we were greeted by Renea's parents who were outside trying to figure out how Renea's dad was going to get his truck unstuck. He drove it off the edge of the road trying to park it.

We then tried to continue on up to the house. Since we were on an icy incline, our van wouldn't go. Our tires started to spin. So I had to put the snow chains on just to travel about 50 feet into the garage. It was the only time I had to chain up the whole trip.

The kids wasted no time getting into the snow.

It's not what you think. It's actually a Snow Snoopy.

Tubing
Most of the time we stayed inside where it was cozy. We played games, read, watched movies, and ate. We also strung popcorn to decorate our Christmas tree.

One afternoon, we decided to go skating at North Star. The kids picked it up pretty quickly. After a while, Courtney was even doing turns and small hops.

The next day, we all rode the cable car to the top of the mountain at Squaw Creek Resort called High Camp. Lunch took a while because it was crowded and the cooks kept messing up our order. Our server kept bringing out food none of us had ordered.
Our lunch turned into an early dinner. We had tickets for the kids to ice skate, but the skating rink was outside and it was getting dark and cold (9 degrees). Not only that, but the wind was blasting at 25-30 m.p.h. and it was snowing. We took the kids outside to see if they could stand the weather and they all enthusiastically said they wanted to still skate.

Some put their face down against the wind...

...others have no face.
It was our first white Christmas and a memorable one at that.
